Would you like to be involved in the region's largest interactive
science/technology event for K-12 students? Are you interested in
teaching in science or mathematics?

  Four local technology companies will have interactive displays at
the upcoming <http://www.myscienceeducation.com/index.htm>Science and
Technology Education Partnership Conference (STEP 7) Oct. 11-12 at
the Riverside Convention Center. Each of the companies is seeking
volunteers to assist visiting students in interactive computer
experiments and demonstrations, in activities that explore biology,
and in "active participation" video game development. The volunteer
opportunities are as follows:

<http://www.ambryxbiotech.com/>Ambryx Biotechnology and
<http://www.encorepharma.com/pharma/default.htm>Encore
Pharmaceuticals are two local drug discovery firms that will have an
interactive booth with microscope viewing and simple synthesis
demonstrations. <http://www.qmotions.com/>QMotions, which develops
PC/Console-based active game technologies, needs volunteers to help
students operate its demo stations (experience playing video games is
helpful). <http://www.suradocrm.com/>Surado Solutions, which develops
software to help companies improve their customer relations, will
have a computer-based demonstration for students to use.

What are the benefits for you?
    * Help spark students' imagination about the possibilities of
careers in science and technology
    * Interact with company scientists and teachers
    * Gain experience working with students in hands-on demonstrations

Volunteers are needed for each of the following time slots:

    * 9:00 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 11 (middle school students)
    * 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 (K-12 students)
    * 9:00 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 12 (Grade 4-6)
