Hello CARL-ITers,

I have an announcement to make.

.
.
.

Our group is scheduled to do a presentation at the CARL South
mini-conference in December on RSS.

9:50 - 10:50 RSS for Librarians - A Really Simple Introduction to a
Really Useful
Communication Tool - CARL Information Technology

You may have heard about RSS or seen the symbol for it (a small orange
XML button) on some web pages. If so, you may wonder what it means and
of what use it can be to you. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a
method that allows organizations to package news and alerts for their
users and provide access in one place. RSS can be used to “push” library
news and events to users, add dynamic content to library pages and to
get database alerts to end users. We will discuss readers, simple
library applications and services that are now “RSS able”.

If you would like to participate in (present), please let me know. If
you have any ideas about how we should present, also please let me know.

Michele
