[Carlit] Happy New Year an Elections (redux with new listserv)

I sent this out on the old listserv, and figured out, after a while, 
that no one seemed to have gotten it.  Not even me.

*Hello CARL-IT-ers,*

Michael has just handed off the mantle of power to me, and, though there 
was little pomp or circumstance, the power is going to my head.

We have much to discuss.

*Elections*
First, I would like to hold some *e-elections* soon to make up the 
board.  We didn't exactly specify these things but lets say:

Vice Chair/Cair-Elect
Secretary 

Please let me know if you are interested in any of these positions. If 
there is more than one of you interested in each position, we will have 
a little online election.  The term of office will run until next 
December 31st.  It will look stunning on your vita (sort of).

*Meetings*
I would like to have non-traditional meetings using some of the many 
technologies available to us.  I would like to meet on 24/7 for one 
month, perhaps Yahoo chat for another and maybe we could IM for a third. 
Maybe we could even do it on Blackboard if I can figure out how.  If you 
have any other ideas for non-traditional meetings, do please let me 
know.  Also, if you have any ideas for topics, also let me know.

*Blog*
I would like to set up a blog.  If anyone has experience with this let 
me know.  We may never use it, but maybe we (you) could then do a 
practical virtual demonstration (an email) about: 

1. Choosing whether to host it yourself or on one of the services. 
2. What software to use if you want to host it and how to set it  up 
with minimal effort and fuss. (optional)
3. How to make it purposeful

*Discussion Board*
Same as above, except...if you are so inclined to take this one on, do 
please find one that has pictures. I do love the ones where there are 
pictures of people instead of just names.  If any of you are too 
self-conscious for this, you could just use your library logo or something.

Then Ellie (Nee Laura), can list all of these on a communications page 
on our Web site, and we will see what works. 

*Questions
*I would like to have a monthly question.  I am thinking that I will 
send it out at the beginning of the month and collect the responses at 
the end of the month.  This might add some liveliness to our listserv.  
Mua ha ha.  I will send out this month's question separately, so that 
people can reply to it specifically. 

Well, enough about me, let's talk about you for a while.
