*Subject:* APS Division Chairs - Deadline extended for Science
Communication opportunity!

All,
I am working with the International Year of Plant Health Task Force in
partnership with Skype a Scientist, a nonprofit that matches scientists to
groups of students for question and answer sessions. We had an open call
for applications for special, promoted LIVE sessions for a Plant Health
Week that will reach hundreds of students live and then put on YouTube.
Unfortunately, we didn't get the word out enough during this busy time, so
we have extended the deadline to July 31st and are trying to get the word
out through the divisions! *Please pass this along to your divisions or
members that you think might be a great fit*. Thanks!
Morgan

*APS IYPH Request for Video Applications for*
* Skype a Scientist LIVE Sessions*
Want to share your excitement for plant health with kids from across the
world? As part of the celebration of the International Year of Plant
Health, APS is partnering up with Skype a Scientist for virtual outreach. Skype
a Scientist

matches
volunteer scientists with classrooms and groups so students and adults can
be exposed to the diversity of scientists and the topics they study.
Additionally, they facilitate LIVE sessions that are open to the general
public and advertised more broadly, attracting 50-500 viewers per session!

Together, APS and Skype a Scientist will be hosting "Plant Health Week"
LIVE sessions this September.

*We are looking for a diverse group of three enthusiastic scientists
studying different aspects of plant health to each participate in a live
Question and Answer session on Zoom that will then be posted to YouTube.*

During their session each scientist will be asked to introduce themselves
and what they study, then the session will open to questions sourced from
the live audience and posed by the moderator. For reference, past examples
can be found on Skype a Scientist's YouTube channel
