Good morning BPHY Graduate students,

I wanted to provide some clarification about the Comprehensive Exam due to some questions that came up.

This year's Comprehensive Examination will be in-person and closed book/notes. Please be aware that the rules governing the Comprehensive Examination vary from program to program. In the case of Biophysics, last year's exam was done remotely due to campus-wide COVID protocols, and it was unrealistic to expect it to one closed book/notes since everyone was at home on their computers. With the lifting of the COVID protocols, the exam will return to being in-person, and will again be closed book/notes.

Faculty involved in the preparation and grading of the exam will be asked to keep this in mind regarding the types of questions that will be asked and the manner in which responses are graded.

If there are any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Fidel Rivas
