Hello all,

Please find attached and below information about fellowship opportunities for continuing graduate students along with department deadlines.

There are three fellowship opportunities for PhD students who have advanced to candidacy.  Please apply using the link below.

1. Dissertation Completion Fellowship Awards (DCFAs)
These awards aim to support students to complete their degrees this current academic year.

They support PhD students for up to 2 quarters. This year, you have two opportunities to apply for final-year DCFA support:

Department Deadline for awards in Winter and/or Spring: 9/25/2024
Department Deadline for awards in Spring and/or Summer: 1/6/2025

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Must be a Ph.D. student who has advanced to candidacy by January 16th, 2025.
2.  Must not have more than 7 units of incomplete grades.
3.  Must be making acceptable progress toward the degree. (For these purposes, acceptable progress for a Ph.D. student means advanced to candidacy within 15 quarters after entry.
4.  Can be on leave to apply but must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 units) during the tenure of the fellowship.
5.  International and domestic students are eligible to apply.

Students will receive a $10,000 stipend per quarter and paid tuition.

Applications requirements:  A 1-page max research statement, a detailed timeline, and a letter of recommendation from their thesis mentor which requires acknowledgment of the candidate's plans to graduate within the award period.

2. DD-HSI Pre-Professoriate Fellowship Award
The fellowship supports outstanding students with 3 quarters at $12,000 stipend per quarter and paid tuition and comes with a $10,000 grant.

Department Deadline: 1/6/2025

Eligibility for these awards requires a terminal degree from a Californian HSI. This includes UCR. For the UCOP list please see: https://www.ucop.edu/graduate-studies/_files/list-of-ca-hsis.pdf

A Masters degree obtained as part of their PhD program does not qualify.

Applications requirements:  A 2-page max research statement, a diversity statement, and two letters of recommendation.

3. Dissertation Year Fellowship Awards (DYFAs)
These fellowships support PhD students for three quarters at a $12,000 stipend per quarter and paid tuition. These awards are aimed at supporting outstanding students going into the final year of their PhD starting in the next academic year (2024/25).

Department Deadline: 1/6/2025

Applications requirements:  A 2-page max research statement, a diversity statement, and two letters of recommendation.

In addition, there are also awards that support students for travel to conferences and/or to conduct research. These awards have an application deadline of October 16th and April 16th. Please see the attached document for further information.
