Deal all,
See message below from Fidel Rivas, our student services advisor, about procedures and deadlines in case you are having new graduate students start in Summer 2024.
CNAS Early Start Program- Summer Graduate Student Health Insurance
Faculty are allowed to employ new Fall 2024 Domestic students starting July 1, 2024. However, CNAS made a commitment that faculty will provide Graduate Student Health Insurance to these students since they are not covered from the past year. The cost for each Student is: $1052.65 and it covers them from July 1-September 22 when Fall coverage starts. There is no partial summer option, so if the student will be employed any part of the summer, we must pay the full premium. If there are continuing students who were not enrolled in Spring 2024 (Filing Fee or Leave) and did not pay for health insurance in spring on their own, they are also not covered in summer. They are eligible for this program too and can be added to the google sheet with a COA.
The deadline to provide the COA for any New Fall 2024 students who are being employed in Summer 2024 is May 28, 2024 at 5pm.
Analysts or Student Services Advisors can enter the names and COAs in the following Google Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LVaZvfL66RZQDNtKjpmwu42e2ggGiprj/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=118241998923551462731&rtpof=true&sd=true
The UC SHIP program is also requiring each of the Early Start Program Students to be enrolled in 1.0 unit of research (297) under the Faculty Supervisor. GSAC will pay for these Summer Session Course Fees on behalf of CNAS College and will notify the Student Services Advisors, the students, and the PI's when they are enrolled and paid.
Sincerely,
Fidel Rivas
