Subject: RE: TA Application open for Spring 2023

Dear All,

I really did edit the message below before sending it, but clearly I did something wrong. Here is an accurate updated message:

Dear CNAS Life Sciences Graduate Students,

Spring 2023 TA applications for courses in the life sciences (BCH, BIOL, BPSC, CBNS, ENTM, MCBL) are now available! The deadline to submit an application is Friday, December 9 2022. The system will shut down at 11:59pm on 12/9/22.

Please logon to http://taonline.ucr.edu to submit your application as soon as possible!

Here is some additional information for common application issues/questions:

  * If you cannot find your Major Professor on the drop-down please let me know and I will get him/her added immediately so you can complete your application.

  * Even if you listed Spring classes in your fall or winter application, you are REQUIRED to login, review each part of your application and submit before the deadline in order to be considered for a TA position in Spring.

  * If the system says it is closed to you it may be that your exit date is wrong in the student information system. If you need to check this, you can reach out to your Student Services Advisor or me.

  * We recently had some trouble with students not requesting any classes, but submitting an application. If you do not request any classes for Spring, you will not appear on the list of potential TAs for the class. Neither the instructors nor the TAAC members can see your application and you are unlikely to be appointed. It is important to request all classes for which you are qualified when completing your application. This ensures that you appear for consideration to many instructors/departments.

  * Sometimes there are two lectures of the same course (for example: BIOL 005A 001 and BIOL 005A 030). If you are interested in being considered for both sections, please list both on your priority list.

  * The TA Online Manual has a handy list of materials to gather before you apply for the first time. It is available via link from the front page of http://taonline.ucr.edu

If you have any trouble with the application or have questions, please let me know right away and I will be happy to help. You can also make an appointment with me via the link below.

Kathy
