Dear Selected CNAS Faculty,

The Fall 2021 TA application for courses in the life sciences (BCH, BIOL, BPSC, CBNS, ENTM, MCBL) is now open.  The message below went to students in selected majors; however, you are welcome to send this to other students whom you want to apply.  More information about TAAC Policies and the calendar is on the front page of http://taonline.ucr.edu.

As your students apply, you will receive notices to review the applications.  Major Professors have from today, May 3, 2021 through May 21, 2021 to approve all of the applications for their students.  If you DO NOT want your student considered for a TA position this fall, please deny the application so that there is no confusion on student availability to TA.  As you probably know, we had a serious situation in Spring 2021 with many applicants declining positions after appointed.  Anything you can do to help prevent this or to encourage your students to withdraw their application before appointment if they change their mind will be very helpful to the TA appointment process.

If you have questions, please let me know.  You are also welcome to use the drop in hours mentioned below or set up an individual Zoom meeting with me.

Dear selected CNAS Graduate Students,

Fall 2021 TA applications for courses in the life sciences (BCH, BIOL, BPSC, CBNS, ENTM, MCBL) are now available!

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, May 14, 2021. The system will shut down at 11:59pm on 05/14/21 and no late applications will be accepted (this will be strictly enforced by the TAAC committee).

Please logon to http://taonline.ucr.edu to submit your application as soon as possible!

During this opening, you may request classes for every term of 2021-22; however, you are still required to log in, review/update your request list, and re-submit your application every quarter. You will be notified of Winter and Spring re-opening later in the year and you can check the expected date now on the TA Online Calendar on the front page of the system.

We recently had some trouble with students submitting an application with no requested classes.


*         If you do not request a class for Fall 2021, you will not appear on the list of potential TAs for the class.  Neither the instructors nor the TAAC members can see your application and you are unlikely to be appointed.


*         It is also important to request all classes for which you are qualified when completing your application.  Listing more courses in your request list ensures that more instructors and Departments see your application.

Attached are some tips and information to help you in completing your application.  If you have any concerns, please feel free to e-mail me questions or a request for an individual Zoom meeting to discuss.  I also have scheduled Zoom Office Drop-In hours at the following times:
