Subject: Opportunity for UCR Students to Showcase Technology at National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Annual Meeting

Hi All,

The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) reached out to highlight an event during their annual meeting at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. to showcase technology and innovation from students. NAI’s Next Generation Inventors Session on Monday, 06/26/2023 from 2-4pm EDT is a panel discussion held at our Annual Meeting designed to give students the chance to exhibit their innovation.

It seems to be a fairly simple application process on their website, https://academyofinventors.org/call-for-collegiate-innovators/. NAI will cover the registration fee to the NAI Annual Meeting and the Signature Gala on Tuesday evening, 06/27/2023 (if they want to attend) where the incoming class of NAI Fellows will be inducted. However, the student will have to pay their own travel, food, incidentals, etc. expenses.

Feel free to share.

Application due date: 04/28/2023

Eligibility:

  * Student team members must be enrolled in undergraduate, graduate or doctoral programs at NAI Member Institutions [UCR is a Member Institution].
  * Student team must have endorsement from a faculty advisor.
  * Student team must express interest in the advancement of their innovation through patenting, licensing, or commercialization.
  * The presented innovation must be relevant to the Annual Meeting theme: Diversifying Innovation for a Strong Economy and a Sustainable Future.

Requirements:

  * Student team members’ enrollment status and contact information.
  * Innovation abstract, including the next step to continue research and development and relation to sustainability.
  * Faculty Advisor contact information. Select teams will require a letter of recommendation from the advisor to endorse the presentation.
  * Two hours of volunteer support from the accepted team on June 26th, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. [they will have a table to setup a display, posterboard, or other show and tell items]
  * A complimentary ticket to the Signature Gala will be available to team members who wish to attend. For further details, please contact Casey Gorman at cgorman at academyofinventors.org<mailto:cgorman at academyofinventors.org>.
