Dear PLBL Graduate Students and Faculty:
We are initiating the second round for applications to the Plant Biology GAANN program. GAANN funds will be distributed on a quarterly basis. To be considered for GAANN funding students will have to fill out a FAFSA form for the 2021 tax year ASAP (until July, 14, 2022). If you have not done so yet, please take a few minutes to fill out the form at this link: https://fafsa.ed.gov/.
In addition, students and their PIs will have to fill out on-line application/nomination forms (see below) until 11:59pm, July 18, 2022.
Eligibility:
- Although there are a few restrictions, most Plant Biology graduate students in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th years and who are US citizens or permanent residents are eligible for GAANN fellowships.
- If you are a domestic student and currently supported by a GSR from a research grant or fellowship from the campus, you are eligible for a GAANN fellowship.
- Students supported in 22/23 by a prestigious external fellowship (ie., NSF GRFP, EPA STAR, etc), can not be considered for funding in that academic year. You may be eligible in future years.
- A main priority of the program is to increase diversity within our graduate program.
- If you are not certain of your eligibility, please discuss the issue with your major professor.
