Dear PLBL Faculty and Graduate Students:

The PLBL graduate program is very pleased to announce that we have been awarded a three-year Department of Education GAANN grant to help provide financial support for PLBL students. In the next few weeks, we will select students for a first round of GAANN funding.

Application for GAANN funding:
The GAANN funds will be distributed on a quarterly basis.

To be considered for the first round of GAANN funding (for the remainder of academic year 21/22): You must fill out a FAFSA form for the 2020 tax year ASAP (until October 22, 2021). Please take a few minutes to fill out the form at this link: https://fafsa.ed.gov/.
In addition, students and their PIs will have to fill out on-line application/nomination forms (see below) until 11:59pm, October 25, 2021 (Monday).

Eligibility:
- Although there are a few restrictions, most Plant Biology graduate students in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th years and who are US citizens or permanent residents are eligible for GAANN fellowships.
- If you are a domestic student and currently supported by a GSR from a research grant or fellowship from the campus, you are eligible for a GAANN fellowship.
- If you are a domestic student and have been awarded a prestigious grant (ie., NSF GRFP, EPA STAR, etc), you will not be considered for funding in this academic year. You may be eligible in future years.
- A main priority of the program is to increase diversity within our graduate program.
- If you are not certain of your eligibility, please discuss the issue with your major professor.
