Subject: Storm Impact - Monday

Dear Biomed Graduate Students,

Hopefully, you have received the email from Dean Deas directly from the SOM list-serves. However, just in case, I am following up to ensure that this communication has been successfully received. We note that the UCR Health clinics will remain open during this time.

I have also appended the email from SOM student affairs which provides information on additional support for students. Please remember that in addition, to the BMSC Graduate program, SOM Student affairs supports all of you as graduate students well as the medical students.

Please do not hesitate to contact your faculty mentors, the graduate program or myself.
Please stay safe and be well!
Monica

Dear SOM Faculty and Staff,

It’s been more than 80 years since Southern California experienced a hurricane, therefore no one expected we would be watching the development of Hurricane Hilary for the past few days. Fortunately, Hurricane Hilary has been downgraded to heavy rain for our area, and it is not expected to be heavier than what we experienced over the past months.

As with any storm, things can change unexpectedly, therefore you are advised to follow the updates on the news as well as the UCR emergency preparedness website<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/emergency.ucr.edu/__;!!OLyWHuc!VbeWk6402c0CCVpzhd2cDnc9W6uQ9eKL0wYuyPLsO-SFXnL7bOrM2J1kHYKMSrqtGNy_WrA3c5B4mP4mJhyJhqmQ75e6VhRtPetfp4wiKjLQ52A$>, and limit travel as much as possible. To err on the side of caution, if you are able to work from home on Monday, it is permissible. UCR Health Clinics will be open on Monday for business as usual.

If there are questions or concerns, please contact your supervisor.

Deborah Deas, MD, MPH
