With the campus-mandated return to in-person instruction effective Jan 31, we know that many of you are excited to be in person but that some of you may have concerns for your health by this return to in person classwork.

The graduate leadership and the faculty very much understand the concerns raised and shared by our graduate students. To address and serve these health-related needs there is a dedicated campus office for students. The Student Disability
Resource Center (SDRC). SDRC has a confidential and individualized process by which accommodations for health concerns are designed and approved for students (including but not limited to COVID related issues). It is important that individuals use these processes
to protect the privacy of their information, to have professional skilled individuals design appropriate accommodations in an equitable manner. When a student is approved for an accommodation, as faculty we do not question why or what is the cause. That
is private. We only attend to what we are to accommodate and how we are directed to accommodate by SDRC (more time on tests, alternative learning material, remote education, whatever we have been directed).

Please note that according to the Provost’s Compassionate Clause,
circumstances qualifying for accommodation include when the person:

a. Live with children under the age of 5 who do not attend in-person school or daycare.

b. Are immunocompromised themselves or live with one or more immunocompromised individuals.

If you need an accommodation, please go through SDRC. The link to SDRC is

email, sdrc@ucr.edu, and a SDRC staff member will follow up with the you directly.

If you cannot get an accommodation approved by this Friday or Monday, we can definitely be compassionate, but we need you to confirm to us BEFORE missing a class that you have made/or are making an appt with the disability office.
In addition, Christina Granillo in SOM Student Affairs,
