Subject: [Faculty] Round 3: Dissertation Completion Fellowship Award (DCFA)

Dear Faculty,

We are pleased to share that the Graduate Division will offer a third round of the Dissertation Completion Fellowship Award (DCFA). The goal of this fellowship is to relieve doctoral students of teaching or equivalent responsibilities so they can focus on completing their dissertation and make timely progress toward degree completion. These awards are intended to support students in the final stage of writing their dissertation/thesis and may be awarded for Summer and/or Fall 2026.

Application Deadline: May 1, 2026

Eligibility:
These opportunities are available to continuing PhD students who have advanced to candidacy and can provide a clear timeline demonstrating that they will graduate by the conclusion of the fellowship award period. The fellowship recognizes students’ academic achievements while providing dedicated time to complete their dissertations.

Important Requirements:
The DCFA fellowship includes two key requirements:

  * Recipients must graduate by the end of the fellowship term(s) awarded.

  * Employment is not permitted during the fellowship period.

These guidelines are strictly enforced.

We encourage you to share this opportunity with your graduate students and faculty mentors so eligible students can take advantage of this support.

Students may apply here:

If you have any questions about the fellowship, please contact gradawards at ucr.edu and copy Maria Pimentel, who will serve as the primary point of contact for these awards. Students may also be directed to their graduate programs, as each program establishes its own internal deadline to ensure submissions meet the Graduate Division’s deadline.

An announcement will also be sent to students informing them of this opportunity and directing them to contact their graduate program for application-related questions.

As the Winter quarter comes to a close, thank you for your continued support of our graduate students.

All best,
