[Biomed_grad_faculty] ANNOUNCEMENT: 2024-2025 Graduate Fellowships Apply by January 2, 2025

This is the official call for this year’s Graduate Division’s fellowship awards: DCFA (Spring/Summer), DYP and DD-HSI awards. These competitive awards are for our continuing students to receive recognition for their outstanding achievements, and support them to graduate.  The purpose of these programs is to relieve students of teaching or equivalent, to focus on their dissertation work and to complete their PhD in a timely manner.

There are 3 fellowship opportunities for PhD students who have advanced to candidacy. Submit application and required documentation and letters of recommendation no later than January 2, 2025


1. Dissertation Completion Fellowship Awards (DCFAs)
These awards support students to complete their degree this current academic year.
They support PhD students for up to 2 quarters. These awards are for students completing their PhD.
The students should be writing and ready to graduate within the time frame of the award.
Students will receive $10,000 stipend per quarter and paid tuition. Students will not be eligible for employment after the award.
Applications require a 1-page max research statement, a detailed timeline (see example in the attached doc.) and a letter of recommendation from their thesis mentor which requires acknowledgement of the candidate’s plans to graduate within the award period.
Deadline January 2, 2025, for award in Spring and/or Summer 2025.


2. DD-HSI Pre-Professoriate Fellowship Award
The fellowship supports outstanding students with 3 quarters at $12,000 stipend per quarter and paid tuition and comes with a $10,000 grant.
Eligibility for these awards requires a terminal degree from a Californian HSI. This includes UCR. A Masters degree obtained as part of their PhD program does not qualify.
3 UCR students will receive this award.
Applications require a 2-page max research statement, a diversity statement and 2 letters of recommendation.
Deadline January 2, 2025, for award in Fall-Spring 2025-26.


3. Dissertation Year Fellowship Awards (DYFAs)
These fellowships support PhD students for 3 quarters at $12,000 stipend per quarter and paid tuition. These awards are aimed at supporting outstanding students going into their final year of their PhD starting in the next academic year (2025/26).
Applications require a 2 page max research statement, a diversity statement and 2 letters of recommendation.
Deadline January 2, 2025, for award in Fall-Spring 2025-26.
