[Biomed_grad_faculty] Program Review and Mentoring Masters Students

Dear Seema,

Thanks for the update! We had an interesting discussion both with the external review team and within the program faculty. It looks like not all the non-SOM program faculty is completely sold on the SOM graduate model with the heavy lecture load for the first two years. I hope we convinced both.

As to MS students, I would be interested in taking a master student. There would have be a match between their interested and our lab focus on course – data analysis, modeling etc.

Best,

Adam

Subject: [Biomed_grad_faculty] Program Review and Mentoring Masters Students

Dear All,

  * First, as a way to keep our program faculty status on the external review, we’d like to update you on the process. This past week, we concluded the virtual site visit with the external review team. We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the group interviews and provided feedback to the team. As an preliminary evaluation, the team indicated a favorable response to the program and its efforts to provide an excellent program for our students. In the coming weeks, grad council will the preliminary report and we will be working on our response to areas of improvement.

  * Second, grad leadership is in the process of reviewing applications for our Biomed Masters program for Fall 2021 consideration. We are hoping to take between 8-10 students. These students are self-funding and would not need funding, but would need placement and mentorship in a research lab. If you are interested in taking a masters student in the fall term, please respond to this email with an affirmative statement indicating your willingness to take MS students.

Let us know if you have any questions of concerns.

Best regards

Seema
