Hi All,

This is an invitation to join us for the annual EEOB retreat which will be held on
Saturday, September 26, at the James San Jacinto Reserve in Idyllwild, CA. The
retreat is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at approximately 5:00
PM. This is a great way for students and faculty to get better acquainted and
learn more about departmental research, so we encourage you all to attend!

Due to budget constraints, we ask that students pay $5 and faculty $15 to cover
the cost of food and beverages. Although breakfast, dinner, and some lunch fare
will be provided, please bring a dish to share. I will leave a sign up sheet up on
the door of the new Biology mailroom. There is also an option to stay overnight
if you wish (for an additional fee), but you must let me know if you wish to do
this as soon as possible.

We are in need of 3-4 speakers to present a 10-15 minute talk on their
research or on some other topic that would be of general interest to our group.
If you are interested in giving a brief talk, please let me (Adrienne) know! We
also need drivers that can take other students/faculty with them in their cars.
Please email me if you are willing to drive people to the event.

We are still working on a formal itinerary that will be sent out shortly. The
retreat will be structured as follows: the morning will be more heavily focused
on academic material, while the afternoon/evening will provide you with some
free time to explore the reserve and/or to get involved with some of our planned
social activities (a short hike, team competitions for various prizes!).

Please RSVP to Adrienne Mora by September 23 if you plan to attend. We hope
to see you there!

Regards,
Retreat planning committee
