Hello All,
If you didn't know, I have replaced Sharon as a member of the commons board. This board is made up of students and basically oversees things associated with the commons. Sharon sent out emails last year to inform us of goings on and ask about complaints/suggestions (since I made so many I guess its good I'm a part of it). So, I will also continue to send emails after our monthly meetings with updates and see if anyone has anything they want me to bring up.
With that being said, we had our first meeting this past friday. I know most of you are good grad students and don't head over there much. But here is an update on the progress of construction. According to the head of the commons it should be all finished in Winter Quarter. And don't worry according to the map they gave us, YES there will be a coffee place, a pavillion to be exact. One of the things they are working on now is signs throughout the commons to be able to find things better. They showed us a bunch of examples and are trying to make everything look good and be functional, but if you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know I will pass along the info. The other thing they were asking about is out door furniture, shading, lighting, etc. It seems everyone agrees there needs to be more lightening at night, which I think they are going to add. But, if you have any suggestions about that or shaing, furniture, etc. let me know. Finally, if you do eat over there, the head of dining services would like feedback on the prepared food, so again let me know about complaints/suggestions. I'll keep you updated as we have our meetings.

Thanks,
Chris
