Hello BFASA Family,

We hope that you all are staying nice and cool this summer! It's been a hot
one to say the least! We're just getting back in town from an inspiring,
educational No Boundaries excursion in Oklahoma and needless to say: *a
time was had!*

I'm reaching out to invite you all to attend one of our 828 Summer Bridge
sessions happening in the Career Center every Thursday from 3p--5p! If
you're not familiar, our summer program is for incoming first year scholars
to get a leg up in their academics and get acclimated to the community
before officially arriving in the fall. They're taking classes and
participating in our weekly workshops and we felt this would be a great
time for you all to connect with them. We're heading into our third week of
the program and they're really enjoying the experience. Stop by just to say
hello!

It’s that time of year again! As we gear up to welcome our new batch of
scholars as well as our returning members, it’s important that the scholars
know who they can connect with on campus and how to get in touch with
members of BFASA which is done through the ASP Green Book guide. Please
complete the following link <https://forms.gle/gEtViXjo61f3DR3W7> before 5p
on September 4th, 2026 This will be shared via our ASP Welcome Kit
delivered to all scholars as well as posted on our website. If you have any
questions, feel free to reach out.

Have you heard of the Black Serving Institutions (BSI) designation from the
state of California? If not, here's a link to bring you up to speed. There
is a submission in the works for UCR to receive the designation this
academic year. Members of BFASA have been working on this application via
the campus-wide Black Thriving Initiative co-chaired by Dr. Myisha Cherry
and I. The deadline is on September 1st and all signs point to we will meet
that deadline!

Also, if you're interested in collaborating with our team this year, tap in
and let us know what's going on! Tap in for real!

Onward and Upward,
