[BFASA] ASP Invite to Our 2025 Black History Month Events

Greetings BFASA Family,
It's time! It's time! African Student Programs (ASP) cordially invites you to participate and engage in our annual Black Heritage Month (BHM) celebration! Join us for a series of engaging and enriching experiences throughout February as we honor the legacy, culture, and contributions of our community, especially here at UC-Riverside and the Inland Empire.
We're thrilled to kick off our BHM celebration with a very special opening ceremony featuring none other than Mr. Kevin Powell<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh9jufwQL54>!  There will be showcases from our various student organizations and scholars from the community.  Our keynote, Kevin Powell, a renowned 16x author, Grammy-nominated poet, journalist, activist, and cultural critic, will deliver a powerful keynote address that you won't want to miss which is critical for the current times. We know that he will leave everyone in attendance inspired and engage in meaningful conversations at the end. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from a leading voice in contemporary thought.

Beyond our opening celebration, we have a versatile lineup of programs planned for the entire month, including, but not limited to:

  *   When the Diaspora Collides on February 6, 2025 at 5p inside ASP. This event will bring together the MESC and ASP community for a shared discussion about the SWANA and African diasporas, anti-Blackness, shared solidarity, and more.


  *   An Evening w/ Alumni Service Award Recipient Keona on February 12, 2025 starting at 5:30p. RSVP here<https://myadv.ucr.edu/forms/AlumniServiceRecipient>.


  *   Tuskegee Airmen Experience at Veteran's Resource Center at 3p on February 12, 2025. This is an opportunity to learn about the Tuskegee Airmen with a unique twist and activity.

  *   The Undercommons at ASP on February 13, 2025 starting at 12p. This is a intellectual conversation hosted inside ASP that utilizes the framework of renowned intellectual and scholar, Fred Moten, to answer challenging questions of the day.


  *   ASP Night at the SRC on February 20, 2025 with gametime at 7p. Come watch the Men's Basketball team with ASP and learn more about what we're doing, participate in fun activities, and cheer on our Highlanders as they play CSU-Long Beach!
