[BFASA] Resources for Those Affected by the Wildfires

Dear Black Faculty & Staff Family,



As you may be aware,  there are numerous communities that are currently experiencing significant impacts from widespread wildfires, especially Black families . Our thoughts are with all members of our IE community affected by this crisis – our scholars, faculty, and staff alike.


I recognize that many of you or someone you know may have faced evacuation orders, dealt with poor air quality, or experienced disruptions to homes and/or daily lives. During this challenging time, our team here in ASP wants to not only share resources but create space for folx to connect where needed. Let us know how we can support you all.


Below are numerous resources available for folx to share with your scholars, friends, and/or families as needed.


  1.  Shelter and Services

  2.  Food Assistance

     *   LAUSD Meal Distribution (Grab & Go Food Locations)<https://www.lausd.org/schoolupdates/food>: From 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Jan. 10, Los Angeles Unified has 16 sites to provide meals for students. District families may stop by and walk into any of these locations to receive two meals per student. This will only be available for Los Angeles Unified students - A student does not need to be present for families to pick up the meals.
  3.  Mental Health Support
     *   LAUSD students and families in need of mental health support can call the Student and Family Wellness Resource Line at 213-241-3840, available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
