Dear Colleagues, Friends of UCRSOM, and Community Partners:

The University of California Riverside School of Medicine is dedicated to training physician leaders to improve the care for our communities within the Inland Empire and address health inequities. You can be part of our mission to improve the health of our communities by being involved with our admissions process. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about our mission and excited to serve as interviewers for our multiple mini interviews, which is a critical component of our admissions process to select applicants who also align with our mission.

Multiple Mini Interviews are a series of short interviews in which medical school applicants receive a prompt that they need to respond to with a limited amount of time. Interviewers play a critical role in engaging the applicants with follow up questions as well as evaluating the applicants. There are no right or wrong answers to these prompts. The goal is understand their values, think through a question in an organized manner, and share their perspective based on their lived experiences.

We hope that you will consider being an interviewer to help us select qualified and mission fit applicants for our next class of medical students (Class of 2029). All interviews are done virtually so all you need is the internet, computer, microphone, and video capability. To ensure a fair and equitable interview process, we do ask that interested interviewers complete a few short trainings including:

  *   Unconscious bias training
  * Overview of the multiple mini interview process
  * Training for using our electronic platform that facilitates the interviews.

The interviews take place in the evenings on Tuesday and Thursdays and Saturday mornings (each less than 3 hours long).

If you are interested in helping us recruit the next generation of physician leaders to serving the Inland Empire, please complete this survey: https://ucriverside.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9HUlk3DqHObVMCa. If you are not able to make the scheduled trainings on the date provided, no worries. We will provide another date to ensure that you are able to attend.

I encourage you to view our Class of 2028 White Coat Ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV45BTyovRU. It is an inspiration ceremony and you can be part of selecting our next class of students who will walk across the stage to receive their white coat and begin their journey to help care for our communities.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would love to hear from you.

Warm regards,

Michelle Fulbright
