[BFASA] Collaborations with ASP

Greetings  BFASA Family From the Land of Many Waters,

Our team in African Student Programs recently planned out our academic year calendar and cannot wait to engage our campus in dynamic, impactful experiences for our scholars and the community. We recognized the desire to collaborate with more of our BFASA family. Simply put: Our scholars need to see more of our BFASA folx whether you're faculty or staff, there is a need for us to show up for our scholars while recognizing there's different ways to make it happen. So, if you have an idea, let's workshop it together. If you and/or your department are interested in collaborating with ASP on a program this academic year, please reach out to our Program Coordinator, Ms. Sharee Hughes (sharee.hughes at ucr.edu<mailto:sharee.hughes at ucr.edu>).

Additionally, we are working on our Black History Month calendar, so if you are hosting any MLK Day and Black History Month programming, let us know before November 1st so we can add it to our special BHM calendar. We know that ASP is not the sole entity that's hosting Black experiences on campus and that folx in BFASA are doing dope things! We want to highlight that.  Historically, our BHM programming has included educational programs, cultural and recreational activities, intersectional identity-related workshops, featured speakers, leadership and organization workshops, movie showings, art displays, and more. This year, we want to ensure that all offices that are doing BHM events are featured. Please reach out to our Assistant Director, Mrs. Aurea Thomas (aurea.lawson at ucr.edu<mailto:aurea.lawson at ucr.edu>) with any information that you want added to the calendar.

Let's continue to help our Black scholars, faculty, and staff thrive while here at UCR.
