[BFASA] Call to Action - Black Student Recruitment at UCR

Hello BFASA Family,

As many of you know, the percentage of students that identify fully or partially as Black/African American has remained extremely low over the past decade.  As of the Fall 2022 term, Black undergraduates comprise around 3 percent of the entire undergraduate population.  There has been recent leadership changes in Undergraduate Admissions over the past few months.  These changes, however, appear to not have sparked any dialogue on the University’s plan to increase the percentage of Black undergraduate student on our campus.

Based on the recommendation of key BFASA members, the BFASA Critical Response Committee needs to develop of plan of action to engage with Undergraduate Admissions in order to learn, discuss, and influence their plan to address the unacceptably low enrollment for Black undergraduate students.
