[BFASA] Willie Moses Celebrates 100th with focus on collecting Black History in Perris Valley

This week Perris Valley celebrates the100th Birthday of Perris Valley's Grand Dame, Willie Moses.  Willie has been a forward-thinking community advocate working to improve conditions for all, since she and her family moved to the area in 1957. Sixty-five years later, at 100 years old, Willie is still holding the vision, and thriving as she celebrates her centennial with great fanfare.


Part of Willie's birthday celebration includes a Black History collection event focused on collecting, documenting, and archiving the untold history of African American pioneers in the Perris Valley. The event takes place on Saturday February 19th, at the Moses Schaffer Community Center, from 10:30-1:30 p.m,.  Please join us and help spread the word. (This is an outdoor event.  Refreshments served)


Do you have historic photos of Black community life in the inland Empire up to 1970?

Event sponsors are especially interested in scanning photos that capture civil rights organizations and protests, Black churches, businesses, and social organizations (Masons, clubs), and photos and memorabilia of historic neighborhoods (like Good Hope, Mead Valley, eastside Riverside, westside San Bernardino, Stuart Street in Redlands etc.), and of course we'd love any old photos and memorabilia with Mrs. Moses.
