Dear Colleagues,

The UC Black Administrators' Council (UCBAC) invites you to participate in a Leadership Reflection Series. The series comprises 90-minute webinars, each illuminating a different area for campus leadership roles.

Members of each diverse panel hold key functional positions within UC. With a focus on their own experiences as Black, Chicano/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, Indigenous, women and first-generation leaders in higher education, they will share their career trajectories and offer leadership principles and practices for career advancement. Registration is required.

Chief student affairs officers — sometimes also known on campuses as vice chancellors for student affairs — have executive oversight of student services and experience, from housing and healthcare to intercollegiate athletics. They are accountable for developing, assessing and making improvements to the way students experience UC, thus furthering the university’s larger mission and strategic plan.

Chief diversity officers (CDOs) function as UC’s executive-level diversity and inclusion strategists. They are charged with ensuring that all institutional decisions are made with diversity as an uppermost consideration. CDOs are responsible for guiding campus efforts to define, assess and cultivate diversity as an institutional and educational resource.

Chiefs of Staff

Chiefs of staff help to ensure that the chief executive is carrying out the strategic objectives of the institution in alignment with its mission and values. The chief of staff serves as executive advisor and confidant to a chief executive, working behind the scenes and with other institutional leaders to solve problems, mediate disputes and deal with issues, large and small.
