Re: 2022-23 Standing Committee Service Preference
As a member of the Academic Senate, your active participation on Senate Standing Committees is essential to the continued success of shared governance and is considered a chief component of your contribution to university service as defined in the Academic Personnel Manual. As such, your participation in the committee selection process is essential. Even if you cannot serve next year, please complete the form so that the Academic Senate has a record of your acknowledgment of this message.
To that end, please use the link below to be directed to the Senate website where you can designate committees on which you would be willing to serve in 2022-23. Please note the service year commences on September 1, 2022 and concludes on August 31, 2023.
All members of the Academic Senate are eligible to participate and are strongly encouraged to complete the form, as well as Emeritus faculty. The form does not include requests for college Executive Committees or the Committee on Committees since membership in these committees is determined through a separate nomination and election process.
In order to submit your 2022-23 committee service preferences please follow the instructions below:
1. Click on the link: https://senate.ucr.edu/rsenate/cpf
1. When logging in, use your UCR Net ID and password to complete the form. Your UCR Net ID and password are the same as those for your UCR email account. If you are unable to log in, you may call Veronica Quesada at x25539 or email at veronq at ucr.edu<mailto:veronq at ucr.edu> for assistance.
1. Fill out the form online and click the button at the bottom of the page that reads "Submit to the Academic Senate".
The deadline for submitting the form with your choices is March 20, 2022. Your preferences must be submitted via this form. Using the required forms ensures that your information is a part of the CoC database which is the primary source of information used by the committee when assigning faculty members to academic senate committees.
I remind you that the University of California has historically been based on a policy of shared governance. This policy can remain healthy only if faculty members agree to serve on Academic Senate and Administrative Committees. We need to have sufficient numbers of diverse faculty volunteers in order to populate the committees with faculty who are informed, interested, and engaged in the committee's topic. In addition, it is important that you select committees for which you seriously wish to be considered a member.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
