Extension to the Deadline Process for Summer Session 22 Course Proposals

Subject:     Extension to the Deadline Process for Summer Session 2022 Course Proposals

I write to remind faculty who may wish to offer online courses during Summer Session 2022 that an extension request to submit a course or course change can be done via the Academic Senate Committee on Courses' Request for Extension of Course Proposal Submission Deadline form (linked here<https://ucr-senate-public.s3.amazonaws.com/committees/8/committee_resource/exception-request-update-6-26-13-610870cb677c4-.pdf> and found under Resources on the Committee's page).

In conversation with Vice Provost Brown and Provost Watkins, the Senate calls attention to this extension request process to encourage and allow faculty to explore online course modality during the Summer.  XCITE<https://xcite.ucr.edu/> has helpful information about online instruction.

For Summer 2022, all extension requests must be submitted by February 11, 2022 to allow the Committee on Courses time to review and campus systems to be updated. For additional information please refer to the form<https://ucr-senate-public.s3.amazonaws.com/committees/8/committee_resource/exception-request-update-6-26-13-610870cb677c4-.pdf> as well as the current guidelines for remote learning courses<https://ucr-senate-public.s3.amazonaws.com/committees/8/committee_resource/guidelines-for-remote-learning-courses-2-23-16-update-610870c117445-.pdf>. Due to the possibility of a large number of Summer 2022 extension requests, the February 11, 2022 deadline will not be further extended. Extension requests must be complete and include the information indicated on the request form. Incomplete forms may not be considered.
