RE:       Proposed Curtailment Program

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to let you know the UC campuses received a proposed plan from President Drake utilizing curtailment as a means to achieve savings to help the university system get through the current budget shortfalls. The proposed cuts involve and expands on the use of curtailment days (e.g. closure of campus that occurs between Dec 25 and Jan 1).

This proposal is under active review among Academic Senate committees and Faculty Executive Committees (FEC) for each college. I encourage you to be in contact with your college FEC, colleagues who sit on senate committees, or myself to ensure inclusion of the opinions of faculty on this matter.
