Hello Graduate Students,

The BcMBGSA is excited to pilot the* Inspire Science Symposium on January
29, 2026, at HUB 302*, with check-in starting at 11:00 a.m. (see attached
flyer for the agenda). *We invite graduate students to participate by
giving a 5-minute rapid talk or presenting a poster.*

This outreach-focused symposium will bring together 50-100 high school
students from disadvantaged backgrounds, 150-200 first- and second-year
undergraduates, and approximately 50 graduate students from across STEM,
along with faculty and advisors. The goal is to create an inclusive space
to share science, research experiences, and academic journeys.

We are especially excited to hear from graduate students with unique or
challenging paths, particularly first-generation students, who are willing
to share stories that can inspire younger students.

The program also includes an undergraduate research pipeline, where
selected first-generation undergraduates will participate in a one-day
workshop to explore research opportunities, connect with PhD mentors, and
receive continued guidance.

Giveaways and refreshments will be provided.

If you are interested, please RSVP

via the link or QR code on the flyer and *submit a 1 - 2 sentence summary
of your presentation and one poster slide to BcMBGSA at ucr.edu
<BcMBGSA at ucr.edu> by January 16, 2026*. Please tailor your presentation for
an audience of undergraduates and high school students, and plan to spend
1-2 minutes sharing what inspires you as a scientist.

Posters from previous events are welcome. If this is your first poster and
you need printing support, let us know, we’re happy to help. Rapid talks
will use one poster-style PowerPoint slide.

If you have questions, please contact us at BcMBGSA at ucr.edu. We hope you’ll
join us in inspiring the next generation of scientists!

Best regards,
BcMBGSA
