Do you want to learn to communicate your science more effectively? Are you interested in learning how to write about science, learn about LA’s unique science communication landscapes, or engage diverse audiences?
We are excited to announce the inaugural Communicating Science Conference for Graduate Students (ComSciCon) in the Los Angeles region, which will take place virtually via Zoom on April 9th and 23rd, 2021! The ComSciCon workshop series<https://comscicon.com/> is designed to empower graduate students to communicate the complex and technical concepts that arise in research in science, engineering and other technical fields to broad and diverse audiences, beyond fellow practitioners in the field.
We have an exciting program of events planned. Attendees will network with fellow graduate student leaders in science communication, produce original writing for publication, and learn from expert writers and communicators in the LA area. Our confirmed speakers so far include David Saltzberg (UCLA prof and consultant on The Big Bang Theory), Emily Lakdawalla (The Planetary Society), Rosanna Xia (LA Times), and more! See our website for the full listing!
ComSciCon-LA 2021 will be held over two full days on April 9th and 23rd, 2021. Applications are open NOW<https://comscicon.com/comscicon-los-angeles-2021-application> and the application period will close THIS FRIDAY at 11:59pm PST on December 4th, 2020. There will be no registration fee for attendees, but only a limited number of spots are available. Attendees will be selected through a competitive application process. The application consists of only a few short answer questions, outlined at <https://comscicon.com/comscicon-michigan-2019-application> https://comscicon.com/comscicon-los-angeles-2021-application.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us (losangeles at comscicon.org<mailto:losangeles at comscicon.org>) or find us on Twitter (@ComSciConLA<https://twitter.com/ComSciConLA>)! Additional information can also be found on our website<https://comscicon.com/comscicon-los-angeles-2021>.
We look forward to your applications!
Sincerely,
Briley Lewis
