An opportunity to attend the HACU conference.

The HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities) 37th Annual Conference, HACU’s ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute in Chicago, IL at the Hilton Chicago from Saturday, October 28th – Monday, October 30th! Students will have conference registration, airfare, and lodging paid for by UCR. We have a quick application window… students will need to apply in Handshake by next Thursday, August 31st.

UCR Student Ambassador - HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute
Opportunity to attend the HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities) 37th Annual Conference, HACU’s ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute in Chicago, IL at the Hilton Chicago from Saturday, October 28th – Monday, October 30th!

UCR Student Affairs will be sponsoring 5 UCR students to attend this year’s conference as UCR Student Ambassadors – Sponsorship Includes: HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute Registration (includes a boxed lunch on day one, a general conference luncheon on day two and three, and also a networking dinner on day three), Round-trip U.S. airfare, & Four nights hotel accommodation (paired with another student scholar).

HACU’s ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute<https://www.hacu.net/hacu/Annual_Conference_Student_Track.asp> is a three-day career leadership and networking symposium designed to build the career & leadership skills of undergraduate students. Students will attend workshops, networking events, and meal functions as well as meet with exhibitors and recruiters across various industries and graduate schools.
Application is open to all undergraduate students. HACU will not discriminate because of race, disability, color, creed, religion, sex, gender, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, or veteran status.

UCR Career Center staff will meet with selected UCR Student Ambassadors during September and / or October to provide resume critiques, networking tips, interview practice, and dining etiquette tips.   *   Upload your resume – highlight leadership roles/experience, study abroad experience

*Resumes will be shared with HACU staff & included in a resume portfolio shared with attending employment recruiters and graduate admissions recruiters.

  *   Upload a brief cover letter that addresses the following:
     *   How could you benefit from attending this conference?
     *   Confirm that you are available to travel to the conference in Chicago, IL from Friday, October 27 – Tuesday, October 31 (travel dates and times TBD).
     *   Confirm that you will make yourself available to connect with a Career Center staff member in September and / or October for conference preparation.
*Applicants may be invited to a virtual interview as part of the selection process
**Application closes Thursday, August 31st at 8am. We expect to make offers for 5 sponsored UCR Student Ambassadors by Wednesday, September 6th.
