Ekphrasis is an online scholarly journal produced by the graduate students of the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at Tufts University. Published annually in partnership with Tisch Library, the journal will provide a platform for art
historical exploration and analysis through which budding scholars may broaden and nuance the field. Graduate submissions, including academic essays and book reviews, may address artworks and related topics ranging from ancient to contemporary, drawing upon
any number of methodological and ideological frameworks. As this is our inaugural issue, there is no designated theme; we welcome submissions on any art historical topic. A section highlighting New England-area exhibitions will give graduate students both
within and beyond the region an opportunity to engage with the art historical/museological landscape in this area.
