> Call for Applications: Two-Way Mentoring Program for Historians of American Art
>
>
> Application Deadline: July 1, 2026
>
>
> AHAA is excited to announce the launch of a Pilot Program for Two-Way Mentoring for Historians of American Art, a dynamic initiative designed to foster meaningful dialogue, mutual growth, and collaboration across generations of art professionals, educators, and curators whose work engages with American art in all its complexity. Beginning August 2026, participants will meet 6 times over a span of one year.
>
> This program reimagines mentorship as a reciprocal relationship—where knowledge, insight, and experience flow both ways between emerging and established professionals. For the purposes of this initiative, emerging is less than 10 years of professional experience, and established is over 10 years and over.
>
> Participants will be paired with thoughtfully matched to emphasize networking, shared learning, professional development, and the broadening of perspectives on American art, its histories, and its evolving futures in an environment that emphasizes intergenerational exchange. With the aim of candid conversations about new scholarship, the potential and risks of AI and related technologies, and the future of the study of American art, we anticipate this program will prove beneficial for all participants.
>
> At the end of the year, participants in the Pilot Program will provide feedback that will help AHAA build the program in size, scope, and institutional collaboration.
