Dear Colleagues,
Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library announces that it is accepting
applications for research fellowships to be completed between Sept. 1, 2026
and Aug. 31, 2027, offering financial support to scholars and professionals
at all stages of their careers through short-term, dissertation, and
postdoctoral *awards <https://www.winterthur.org/fellowships-available/>*.
Postdoctoral fellowships provide a monthly stipend of $4,500, whereas all
short-term fellowships provide $2,500 per month. Applications are due by
January 15, 2026.
We are pleased to continue our partnerships with the *Ephemera Society of
America <https://www.ephemerasociety.org/>*, and with the *American Trust
for the British Library Research Fellowship Program
<https://atbl.us/the-transatlantic-fellowship-program/>*, offering
opportunities to work at Winterthur and within the British Library’s
collections. While all fellows can consult with our conservation and
scientific staff in support of their projects, a new Conservation Research
Fellowship is available for researchers whose projects are directly related
to conservation and technical studies. Maker-Creator Fellowships also
enable artists and creative professionals from a breadth of artistic
practices to find new inspiration for their work.
These awards give researchers unparalleled access to an independent
research library
<https://www.winterthur.org/exhibitions-and-collections/library/> and museum
<http://museumcollection.winterthur.org/> whose vast collections encourage
understanding of the Americas in a global context from the 17th to the 20th
centuries, complemented by conservation labs, and extensive botanical
collections and gardens situated in 1,000 acres of preserved meadows and
farmland. *Read more about our recent fellows’ projects
<https://www.winterthur.org/current-and-former-research-fellows/>* and see
how our collections and community are supporting a broad range of scholarly
and creative work.
Academic Programs staff are available to talk about project feasibility and
the application process for the best outcomes for research at Winterthur.
Please contact us with your questions or to inquire about your research
interests, and thank you for sharing this posting within your disciplinary
networks.
Sincerely,
Catharine Dann Roeber
