The Annual Graduate Student Symposium in Nineteenth-Century Art
March 14 and 15, 2026
1-4PM Online (Eastern Time)

The twenty-third annual graduate student symposium in the history of
ninetee=
nth-century art, co-sponsored by the Association of Historians of
Nineteenth=
-Century Art (AHNCA) and the Dahesh Museum of Art, will be held virtually
on=
Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, 2026, from 1 to 4pm.  The Mervat Zahi=
d Cultural Foundation has generously provided $3000 to award to the best
pap=
er(s), and the selected winner(s) will have the opportunity to publish in
Ni=
neteenth-Century Art Worldwide.

The respondents to the students' papers will be Amy Ogata, Professor of Art
=
History at the University of Southern California, and S. Hollis Clayson,
Pro=
fessor Emerita of Art History and Bergen Evans Professor Emerita in the
Huma=
nities at Northwestern University.

Ph.D. students are invited to submit proposals for 20-minute papers on
origi=
nal research in any area of the global history of art and visual culture
pro=
duced during the long nineteenth century (1789=E2=80=931914).
