Dear Graduate Students,

I am writing to invite applications for this year’s History of Art Graduate Travel Awards. These are the Brink, Carrott, and Forster-Hahn awards. https://arthistory.ucr.edu/graduate/brink-carrott-graduate-awards/

These three awards provide a valuable opportunity to pursue research central to your theses or dissertation topics in locations that would otherwise be difficult to reach. To apply, please use the following link, which will direct you to a Google form document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/177pmG2l9-Dhmswfo3uQtGYWryX_0SaY3/view

Applications don’t have to be made specifically for one award, but will be allocated by the selection committee. Applications are due by April 30th. If you already received a Brink or Carrott travel award in the past, you are still eligible to apply, as are MA and PhD-students alike. This year, the amount for the awards will be $1500.

I encourage you all to begin to formulate a proposal for a research project, even if your ideas for your theses are only in the germinal stage. If you have an advisor, I suggest scheduling a quick meeting before the break to discuss a research proposal for the travel grant. If you don't have an advisor, or if your advisor isn't available, I am happy to consult with you as well. Clicking on the above link, you will also be able to access a redacted template for your information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best, and good luck,

 Jason
