Dear Student Advisor Managers,



The Ronald E. McNair Scholars program is currently accepting students, and
I was hoping you could share this opportunity with students, faculty, and
staff in your respective departments. Please see the attached program flyer
that can be distributed to students and the below information that includes
program benefits and eligibility criteria.

The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Scholars
Program) at UC Riverside is a TRIO project federally funded by the U.S.
Department of Education that prepares undergraduate students for doctoral
studies by providing mentored research opportunities, graduate school
advising and application assistance, and opportunities to present at
conferences.

PROGRAM BENEFIT

5-week Summer Research program with a $2,800 stipend

Independent study course with faculty mentor

Workshops focused on research skills & graduate school preparation

Individualized academic and graduate school advising

Graduate school application support

Opportunity to visit prospective graduate schools

Support to attend and present at conferences

Financial literacy workshops & activities



ELIGIBILITY

Undergraduate students enrolled at UCR are eligible to apply if they meet
the following criteria:

   - Have at least 90 units by the time the program starts (Spring 2024)
   and at least two years remaining at UCR
   - Have at least a 3.0 GPA
   - Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
   - Be a low-income and first-generation college student OR a member of an
   underrepresented group in graduate education
   - Have an interest in research and pursuing a Ph.D.
