From academic-tech-bulletin at lists.ucr.edu Thu Sep 3 13:37:22 2026 From: academic-tech-bulletin at lists.ucr.edu (Academic Technology Notice) Date: Thu, 3 Sep 2026 13:37:22 -0700 Subject: [Academic Technology Notice] Gradescope Update: New Canvas Integration Message-ID: Dear Colleagues, You're receiving this because our records show you've used Gradescope in the past. Please be advised that we're upgrading Gradescope's connection to Canvas to add new functionality, including support for syncing cross-listed section rosters. This upgrade will take place Tuesday September 8th at 7PM. No action during the maintenance period is required on your part. We have selected this date to minimize impact to you and your students. If you already have Gradescope assignments linked in a course, nothing changes on your end. Those links, roster sync, and grade posting will all keep working as-is. If you haven't yet linked Gradescope in a course, even if you've already built out the rest of the course in Canvas, use the new Gradescope tool. It's faster: you create the Canvas assignment and the linked Gradescope assignment in one step, and Gradescope now appears directly in the Course Assignments menu. During the transition you may see two Gradescope entries in Canvas: "Gradescope 1.3? and "Gradescope - Legacy". Gradescope - Legacy will remain in place for at least Fall quarter in order to support any course content that was already created using the legacy version of Gradescope. Any new content must be created with the new Gradescope 1.3 version. We have drafted a support article that illustrates this process. Please do not hesitate to contact us via email at xcite-help at ucr.edu should you have any questions or concerns.
