I am requesting your assistance in encouraging distinguished graduating
seniors to apply for a 2008 Graduating Senior Awards. These awards
include the <i>Dean Thomas L. Broadbent Award, </i>the<i> Dean Loda Mae
Davis Award,</i> <i>Watkins Award </i>and the <i>Marguleas/Weiman
Humanitarian of the Year Award</i>. Your assistance would also be
greatly appreciated in encouraging extraordinary students and student
organizations at all levels to submit an application for the <i>Bayless
Individual </i>and<i> Group Student Leadership Awards</i>.<br>

<b><i> <br>
Dean Thomas L. Broadbent Award</i></b>: Recognizes a graduating
male student for<br>
outstanding participation in extracurricular campus activities,
leadership and academic achievement. <br>
<br>
<b><i>Dean Loda Mae Davis Award</i></b>: Recognizes a graduating
woman for outstanding participation in extracurricular campus activities,
leadership and academic achievement. <br>
<br>
<b><i>Marguleas/Weiman Humanitarian of the Year Award</i></b>:
Recognizes a UCR<br>
undergraduate student who serves as a role model and inspiration to
others.<br>
<br>
<b><i>Watkins Award</i></b>: Recognizes the Outstanding Graduate
Student<br>
<br>
<b><i>Bayless Awards</i></b>: Recognizes leadership qualities that
enhance development of self and organization(s) and campus life.<br><br>
<br>
Attached is a flyer which can be used to promote the awards. Blank
application forms will be posted online on the Dean of Students web page:

will also be available in the Student Affairs Offices. The <b>deadline to
submit applications is Friday, April 11, 2008 at 5:00pm in the AVC/Dean
of Students Office located in 381 Commons.</b> Please note that the
qualifications differ for each award, requiring completion of a separate
application for each.<br>

The awards will be presented at the Honors Convocation on May 15, 2008 to
be held in the University Theatre.This is an excellent opportunity for
students to be recognized for their achievements, please encourage
