<b>Open Forum and Dinner with Student Regent and Student Regent
Designate<br>
</b>On Friday, February 8, 2008 the current student regent, Ben Allen and
the student regent designate, D'Artagana Scorza will be visiting the UC
Riverside campus. Interested UCR students are invited to join the
regent and regent designate for dinner and discussion, 4:30 -6:30 p.m. in
Commons 355. The discussion will focus on the student regent role,
the student regent application process, and will offer UCR students the
opportunity to ask questions and share issues of concern.
Advance reservation required. Sign up at the Student Life Front
Desk, Commons 229, by noon on Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

<b>Application Process for Student Regent Position<br>
</b>UCR is currently in the process of seeking candidates for the
position of Student Regent in 2009-10. The Student Regent position is a
two-year commitment to serve as a member on the Board of Regents of the
University of California. From the time of appointment as a Student
Regent in September 2008, the appointee holds the title
"Regent-Designate" and is invited to participate as a
non-voting member in all meetings. Commencing July 1, 2009, the Student
Regent will serve as a full voting member of the Board of Regents. A
candidate for the position of Student Regent must be an enrolled
undergraduate, graduate, or professional student in good academic
standing for the two year duration. Once appointed, the Student Regent
must resign from all other elected or appointed positions. A Student
Regent is not eligible for reappointment. The Student Regent's University
fees, tuition, and campus parking fees are waived. Additionally, a
Student Regent will be reimbursed for expenses incurred for attendance at
meetings of the Board and its Committees. Applications are available
