Dean of Students by meeting candidates during their campus

</b></font>The Assistant Dean will provide visionary leadership in the
University's efforts to enhance campus vibrancy and cultivate more
active, engaging and dynamic programs and provide more purposeful
programs, activities and experiences outside of the classroom for the
benefit of the student body at the University of California,
Riverside. He or she will work to cultivate a collaborative
approach with other existing programming efforts and campus traditions
and will build partnerships with student organizations and units of the
University whose missions include the provision of various co-curricular
programs as an extension of the educational experience. S/he will develop
and enhance student learning beyond the classroom and improve the quality
of life for students; directly and through administrative, programmatic,
supervisory, and evaluative responsibility for four departments
including: Associated Students Program Board, Campus Activities and
First Year Programs, and Student Organization, Leadership, Advising and
Resources. <br><br>
<i>Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Competencies:</i>
Master's degree and 5 years experience in student affairs; a record
of accomplishment as a visionary leader, student-centered advisor and
motivational educator; demonstrated experience in cultivating success in
a change oriented environment; leadership experience in program planning,
design, and management; demonstrated creativity and experience developing
and evaluating innovative programs; knowledge of student development
theory, techniques and research associated with ensuring the success of
diverse student populations; excellent written and verbal skills;
strong supervisory, training and motivational skills.; demonstrated skill
in budget planning, preparation and administration; excellent
interpersonal skills and track record of strong collegial
relationships throughout the University system and broader
communities.<br>

<b>Melinda Roper<br>
</b>Melinda earned her undergraduate degree at the University of
California, Santa Barbara, and M.S. in Exercise and Sport Science at
Pennsylvania State University and Ph.D. in Counselor Education at
Pennsylvania State University. She has served as Senior Associate
Director of Student Activities and Engagement at Duke University from
2004 to the present. Dr. Roper brings rich and diverse experience
in advising and academic support and student event management having held
positions with these foci both at Duke University and The Pennsylvania
State University during the last decade. <br>

<b>Tonantzin Oseguera<br>
</b>Tonantzin holds Masters of Science in Education Higher Education and
Student Affairs Administration from University of Vermont and B.S. in
Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University. She
has served as Director of Student Activities and Leadership Programs at
Portland State University from 2003 to the present. She previous
held the position of Associate Director for Student Activities and
Organizations at Chapman University.</blockquote><br>
