Dear Colleagues,

The annual meeting of the Council on Thai Studies - COTS 2009 - will be
held October 23-24, 2009 at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb,
Illinois, USA. The theme for COTS 2009 is Thailand*s Responses to
Globalization: Globalization vs. Traditionalism. The conference explores
issues concerning the dynamic interaction between local national
processes and globalization processes in terms of Thai responses;
highlighting cultural, economic, environmental, socio-political and
other responses. While this year*s conference is organized around this
theme, papers and panels addressing topics outside the main theme are
also STRONGLY encouraged. Papers are welcome from ALL disciplines. 

Deadline for abstracts is August 20, 2009. Abstracts should not be
longer than 350 words.
