The Announcement for Small Research Grants Programme, Year 2009-2010
The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development
(RCSD), Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University offers Small
Research Grants Programme, Year 2009 - 2010 to interested people from
both the academic and non-academic sectors to conduct research in the
area of social science and sustainable development focusing on the
Mekong Region. Mid-career researchers, NGO workers, development
practitioners, and M.A and PhD. students who are pursuing field
research are eligible to applying for this type of research grants.

Research themes of the grants include transborder issues, migration
and identity, resource management, changing of environment and
globalization in the context of Mekong Region. The grants will be six
months to one year in duration, and will result in a written report on
the research. RCSD will provide practical support regarding editorial
processes. Research reports completed by research fellows in the
program will be considered for publication either as part of the RCSD
working papers, monograph series or in published academic journals.
RCSD will also provide them a chance to participate in workshops,
seminars and conferences organized by RCSD to sharpen research focus,
strengthen research methodology and critical analysis.

Fellowship will cover support which includes a monthly stipend, field
research expenses, research supplies, books and supplies.

Qualifications:
An applicant should have at least Bachelor�s degree in any field and
proficiency in English. They should have research experiences and
interest in conducting research in the field mentioned above. The
eligible people to apply for this scholarship must hold the
citizenship of Thailand and neighboring countries in the Mekong
Region; namely Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and China.
