Asian Art History (1 year position)
Skidmore College

Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York, Assistant
Professor, one year replacement, start Fall 2008. PhD or ABD
in Art History; salary commensurate w/experience. All Asian or
Islamic concentrations considered; focus may include
global-contemporary. Teach 5 undergraduate courses/year.

Assistant Director for Asian Studies
University at Buffalo, SUNY

The University at Buffalo Asian Studies Program announces a
search for an Assistant Director to work with the faculty
Director and interdisciplinary Advisory Council.
Responsibilities will include identifying grant opportunities
and helping draft grant proposals to support the Program and
its outreach activities, organizing events and conferences,
communicating with core constituencies, representing the
Program at regional meetings, working with local schools on
outreach projects, and assisting with the routine work of the
Program.

Applicants should demonstrate superior organizational ability,
interpersonal skills, and facility in oral and written
communication. A Masters degree in Asian Studies or a related
field and three years of experience in program management,
development, or similar work are required. Applicants should
be familiar with one or more Asian languages and have
experience managing budgets and writing grant proposals.
Experience managing databases and websites is desirable.

Associate Director
Asian Cultural Council

The Asian Cultural Council seeks an Associate Director for
their New York office. The Associate Director will report to
the Executive Director. Duties include: Oversee grant program
and budget, coordinating among head office in New York and
field offices in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Manila; Assist
in developing professional programs for visiting grantees from
Asia (and American grantees traveling to Asia); Oversee and
participate in grant application, evaluation, and selection
process; Review and assess grantees' reports; Oversee general
correspondence pertaining to the ACC’s grant program and the
Council’s relationships with applicants, grantees, and
professionals in the field; directing some of such
correspondence to program officers and handling others
directly; Maintain general familiarity with arts and cultural
activities across Asia and the U.S; Develop and maintain
relationships with grantees and donors through several trips
to Asia each year; Oversee development of annual grant budget
in association with offices in Asia, and monitor expenditures;
Maintain check writing authority, within limits, on ACC bank
accounts; Assist the Executive Director in the preparation of
ACC annual reports and periodic newsletters; Work with
Executive Director and program staff in preparation of reports
to grant donors; Participate in development of ACC website and
other public materials related to grant program; Assist the
Executive Director and the Board with fundraising strategies;
Work with the rest of the team preparing board meeting; Attend
and help plan and participate in periodic board trips to Asia.

Qualifications: Experience and familiarity with the cultures
and peoples of Asia; Expertise in one or more aspects of Asian
art and culture; Ideally, a graduate degree at the M.A. or
Ph.D. level in some aspect of Asian disciplinary studies;
Facility with a language of Asia is desirable; At least five
years professional experience in foundation or other nonprofit
work pertaining to the arts, Asia, or international affairs.

Asian Art Curator
Florida State University

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota,
Florida/Florida State University seeks a curator to serve as
Dr. Helga Wall-Apelt Curator of Asian Art. A focus of the
position will be upon developing the new Asian art wing and
galleries to open 2011. Position (#24797) will be at Associate
or Curator level dependent upon candidate’s experience and
education. Responsibilities include care, documentation,
research, presentation, publication and growth of the Asian
art collection. Ph.D. in art history preferred, or Masters in
appropriate area of specialization and curatorial experience.
Knowledge of historical and contemporary Asian art,
presentation skills, proficiency in appropriate Asian
