Dear All,

I have exciting news and a reminder.

The executive committee has decided to make the TLC annual theme -- Art History. This will be the fourth year of our "discipline" series (2008: Political Science, 2007: Anthropology, 2006: History).

Following this theme, the executive committee of the TLC is very excited to announce our TLC Distinguished Guest Speaker for 2009: Dr. Hiram Woodward.

As you all know, over the past five years we have sadly said goodbye to several prominent scholars in Southeast Asian Art History: Ingrid Muan, Betty Gosling, Madeline Giteau, Henry Ginsberg, and Roxanna Brown. Professor Woodward is one of
the world's leading experts on Southeast Asian Art. He will offer a talk in honor of our fondly remembered colleagues.

The title and abstract for the talk are TBA.

We hope to see many members at this talk and at the
Association for Asian Studies Annual Meeting, Chicago, IL. March 26-29, 2009.

Information about the meeting can be found at:

http://www.aasianst.org/annual-meeting/index.htm

The official time, date, and location of the talk and TLC meeting will be announced in early 2009.

Second, if you would like your panel at the
2009 AAS conference to be considered for TLC sponsorship,
please send the proposal to me (I will forward it to the
executive committee) by July 15th. We are particularly interested in panels which promote the study of Art History in Thailand, Laos, or Cambodia. However, we gladly accept applications for panels on any subject under the broad rubric of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia Studies.

The official due date for all panel/paper proposal for the annual AAS meeting is August 15, 2009.

Thank you for your time,
justin
