CALL FOR ENTRIES
THE MOVE MEDIA RIGHTS FESTIVAL IN THAILAND (MMRF) 2008

At the moment of 60th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human
Rights (UDHR), a human right film and art festival titled 'Move Media
Rights Festival (MMRF) focusing on South East Asia, but covering the
wider Asian region, will be organized for the first time in Thailand.

We are calling for film entries the forthcoming International Human
Rights Film and Art Festival of Thailand. The festival will be held
15th to 20th December 2008 in Thailand.
MMRF will feature Film/video productions within the framework of the
last 5 years. MMRF is confident that at this year's festival at more
than 40 films would be screened including feature, documentaries and
expositions on human rights and human security issues. MMRF also wish
to honour deserving artists and film makers.
MMRF encourages applications from emerging film makers with new work
focusing on the SEA region

MMRF encourages applications from organizations working in promoting
human rights issues through films to use this festival as a venue for
promotion and advocacy
MMRF has limited funds and acceptance of the film does not guarantee
full sponsorship to attend the festival

The preferred format will be on DVD of 'screenable quality'.

The program will run over a period of 5 days, and include many
activities such as:

Approximately 40 human rights related films
Exhibitions/performances of rights related organization's products,
Ten dialogues on core issue/ theme based films with film maker/
expert/ victim/ producers in the presence of audience and media,
The 'Maria Therese Godskesen' memorial human rights defenders lecture
on Film and Human Rights

Area of issues/themes
Contemporary rights related issues of South East Asian region will be
the focus, but outstanding films on human rights issues from the wider
region will be considered. At present there are seven specific topics
of films in the first edition of the festival.
Global warming, climate change and environmental rights
Human trafficking
Right to education
Children and Women rights including violence against women
Questioning on death penalty
Rights of refugees and migrant worker
Rights of ethnic minorities


The MMRF works in partnership with
Amnesty International- Thailand,
Office of the Human Rights and Social Development (OHRSD), Mahidol
University,
South East Asia Regional Cooperation in Human Development (SEARCH), and the
Siam Health Foundation (SHF).

The Move Media Project (MMP) is the core partner of the event.

There is no specific entry form for submission of film / performance.
However there should be

1. The synopsis of the story in English,
2. At least 2 different stills,
3. A list of credits,
4. A short biography of the artist/director, including a filmography
of the film director,
5. A press kit about the DVD, art work or performances.

MMRF invites all filmmakers, producer; directors enter their human
rights festivals, short films and documentaries to the address below.
Deadline for entry is 30th August 2008. All the docs should be sent by
mail within the deadline to the address bellow.
