Hello,

Many of you have not heard from me for some time, since I have been a
bit swallowed up by the demands of teaching, commuting across fields of
soybeans, and two daughters, but I'm glad to have this reason for
writing. I am chair of the Willi Paul Adams book prize committee, a
prize offered by the Organization of American Historian every two years
for the best book on American history published in a foreign language.
Although lots of good scholarship on the United States in languages
other than English is published (as all of you know), nominations for
this prize have been too few in recent years. I would like to change
that.

Please do consider nominating a book, or telling friends who have
published recently in languages you read, about this prize. The link
with information is below. The deadline is not until May 1, 2008 but
that will come sooner than all of wish.

Please be in touch with any questions.
Thanks,
Anne
