Southeast Asia Regional Coordinator Burma Project / Southeast
Asia Initiative

The Southeast Asia Initiative and Southeast Asia: Beyond
Borders Program are dedicated to strengthening national,
regional, and transnational civil society initiatives in
Southeast Asia.  The Regional Coordinator will work with the
Program Officer for Southeast Asia based in New York and
report to the Directors of the Burma Project/Southeast Asia
Initiative and Southeast Asia: Beyond Borders Program.  Under
the guidance of the Directors and the Program Officer, the
Regional Coordinator will take primary responsibility for
helping to formulate strategy, implement operating and grants
programs in Southeast Asia, and support related advocacy and
public information activities.

Note: This position will be based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Responsibilities:
Act as the primary liaison between grantees in Southeast Asia
and the NY/London offices;
Work with Program Officer on all aspects of grants management
including: conducting regular site visits to grantees in the
region; coordinating vetting process for grants as directed;
drafting/preparing grant dockets with recommendations;
processing grant payments; reviewing grantee reports;
maintaining grantee records;
Coordinate collaborative grants, programs and activities in
Southeast Asia between OSI regional and network programs;
Help manage the OSI office in Chiang Mai with the Burma
Coordinator;
Be a major informational reference point for the OSI network
for Southeast Asia;
Represent OSI at conferences, meetings and events in Southeast
Asia, as directed;
Submit periodic reports on OSI grants and activities in the
region;
Network and brainstorm with regional donors, partners and
civil society organizations;
Monitor current events and suggest possible strategies for OSI;
Under supervision of the Directors, develop, execute and
coordinate special projects as required;

Requirements:
Masters or higher degree, or equivalent
Knowledge and experience working and/or living in Southeast Asia
Experience working with NGOs, international organizations,
and/or grant-making institutions
Self-starter and team worker
Advanced language skills in a Southeast Asian language a plus
Excellent people, organizational, and communication skills,
particularly ability to manage compile and analyze disparate
pieces of data
